Bondi Beauty

This post has been a long time coming, but I could not resist the opportunity to show you Bondi Beach and its surrounds through my eyes. So today’s blog is about observing and appreciating the lifestyle and scenery that Bondi, NSW has to offer its visitors.

Bondi Beach, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Our first stop… ‘Bondi Icebergs’ (http://icebergs.com.au/)

Bondi Icebergs is a gorgeous spot by the seaside if you are keen to grab a yummy meal and watch the super enthusiastic swimmers do a million laps of the stunning seaside pool. Meals are pretty basic, i.e. steak sandwiches and pastas, however you can also order tasting plates and seafood platters for two… a romantic option for the loved up couple!

Des and I ordered the former of the previously mentioned options… steak sangas and pasta!! #taste

Next stop… Bondi’s seaside skate park

I hope the amazing gentlemen and women of the skate park were not put off by my over-enthusiastic responses to their aerial tricks! With a lens in their face, this is what I captured…

IMG_6096 IMG_6099 IMG_6101 IMG_6104

I’ve never been a skater, and so I don’t know why I found it so fascinating to watch these kids do a range of seemingly effortless acrobatic tricks… but I did! The lifestyle of these kids is so laid back, yet they demonstrate a profound respect for each others’ space and abilities. It is interesting listening to the way they converse with one another as well! Words of encouragement to ‘keep trying, you’ll get it’ are common and the persistence of these kids is something to admire.

Yes, yes, graffiti, I can’t help it!

It wouldn’t be a visit to Bondi Beach if I didn’t showcase a few of the seaside artworks that capture many tourist’s attention like an art exhibit would to an art collector.

More gorgeous Byron Bay…

I could not resist the temptation to share more of my Byron Bay adventures with my beautiful husband, Des. This is definitely somewhere I can see myself retiring to in the future… with the alternative clothes and all!

AKOVA – One man, eight instruments!

Another awesome draw card for Byron and Queensland is an amazing musician called Andy, the one man band for Akova (he literally plays 8 or so instruments, many simultaneously!!) Des and I spotted him at the famous ‘Beach Hotel’ in Byron Bay a few years ago and we knew he would be a massive hit at our wedding! Friends and family that don’t normally dance couldn’t help themselves but rip up the dance floor with his laid-back roots and funky beats. He is playing at ‘The Beach Hotel’ in Byron Bay tomorrow night, and I recommend you get your butt to the venue before you are sardined in there ’cause that is likely to happen with Andy being on stage!

Disliking the ‘doosh doosh’…

As I got my overly pregnant buttocks out of bed this morning, I was determined to work off the 1/2 packet of M&M’s I ate yesterday and therefore cycle my way into trimmer thighs that do not rub together every time I take a step – ouch for chaffing! However, whilst relying on the music to pump myself into a motivated cycling maniac, I noticed the ‘doosh doosh’ music just wasn’t doing it for me 😦

You know what would motivate me to move my behind????? …

Are you serious?… you may be wondering. HECK YES! ‘Don’t Stop Me Now‘ would have been a better choice to get me going. Which makes me wonder if anyone else attending a gym class feels the same way?

If you are a gym fanatic, what would you pop on the playlist if you had full control of the sound system?

Melbourne Glory

As I sit in a local Sydney cafe, drinking what can only be described as ‘dishwashing liquid’ disguised as ‘coffee’, I reminisce on my trip to Melbourne where good coffee is pretty much available at every turn. The culture of people, service, food and drinks are second-to-none, and I say this being a Sydney-sider my entire life (thems is fighting words I know!).

I begin my journey down the infamous Melbourne alleyways…

I absolutely adored the graffiti, the patisseries, the cheeky side to advertising (please excuse the ‘F’-word on the Gluten free poster) and the people who were more approachable than I have come across in other Australian states (well, perhaps on par with Queenslanders… they are just so laid-back!).

Here are some more snaps from my trip…

Byron Bay: Sculpture by the sea

Dog on a tin roof

Dog on a tin roof

On my husband and I’s trip to the gorgeous Byron Bay, Australia, we decided to go and check out their Sculpture By the Sea event. Our senses certainly were blown before arriving, as we were confronted by a dog just ‘chilling out’ (as everyone does in Byron Bay) on a cafe roof! What the heck was it doing there? Just checking out the view it would seem…

After visiting Sculpture By The Sea, there was nothing left to do except overload our senses with the surrounds of the beach and the people who live for the thrill of the waves…

Oh yeah… and I just love the joy these children are obviously experiencing through observing, touching and being inside of one of the sculptures!
